It's SPRING! And that means warmer weather, fun festivities, and events for the whole family! The events listed on this page are NOT listed on our monthly calendar! Check back often to find out what else has been added to the event calendar!

Saturday, April 6: 

Lebanon Lions Fishing Derby: Gather your family and join us for free, wholesome fun at the Lebanon Lions Recreation Area! This event is open to children 16 years of age and younger, so grab your fishing pole and your favorite bait and get ready for some angling excitement! Come rain or shine! No fishing permits are needed – bring your enthusiasm and get ready for a day of fishing fun! We look forward to seeing you there!

Monday, April 8:
Solar Eclipse Viewing at Jilson Square Mark your calendars for an incredible event happening on April 8th! The Willimantic Library is teaming up with the Recreation Department to bring you an unforgettable experience centered around an awe-inspiring event. Join us for a day filled with excitement as we celebrate together! We'll be providing free eclipse glasses so you can safely witness the celestial wonder. 

The Total Solar Eclipse on the Mansfield Public Library Lawn: Join us on Monday, April 8th, from 2:00 to 4:30 pm for eclipse-themed snacks and complimentary eclipse viewing glasses (while supplies last). Don't miss this unforgettable celestial event right in your community!

The Total Solar Eclipse in Mystic: Join us at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center in Mystic for a memorable educational event where we'll observe, learn, and create eclipse projects. Cost between $10-$12.

Saturday, April 13: 

Astronomy Night: Prepare for an enchanting evening under the stars with an unforgettable night of stargazing led by local astronomer Sean Perkins! Join us for an awe-inspiring journey through the cosmos as we peer through high-powered telescopes and explore the wonders of the night sky. Tickets for this exclusive event are $15 per person, and children 10 and under are admitted free of charge. To secure your spot for this magical evening, book now by emailing caraprv@gmail.com.

Hao Bang Ah, Dragon! with the Chinese Theatre Works in Storrs: Get ready for a magical puppet show with "Hao Bang Ah, Dragon!" Join Chinese Theatre Works for a spicy mix of dragons, songs, and silliness! Special guest Monkey King will bring his mischief to the party! Perfect for ages 4+ and lasts about 40 minutes.  Purchase at the Ballard Institute, by phone, or online. Don't miss this blend of Eastern and Western theater!


Spring STEAM Festival at the Mansfield Public Library: Stop by anytime between 10 AM and 1 PM to enjoy STEM challenges and crafts hosted by UCONN’s Alpha Phi Omega Community Service Fraternity, as well as open play and coloring activities with friends!


FREE Puppet-Making Workshop: Celebrate World Art Day in style with a FREE Puppet-Making Workshop at the Mansfield Community Center! Join us for a creative session where children can paint colorful umbrellas and hearts, all materials provided.

I am the Villiage: A Puppet Spectacle: UCONN Puppet Arts presents a 2-day event based on Marc Chagell's life. Music is composed by Nat Seelen of Ezekiel's Wheels. The Puppet Workshop will start at 1:30 pm, and the performance begins at 4pm.

Mansfield Community Tag Sale: Join us for our annual town-wide tag sale event, offering a morning of shopping and selling opportunities for bargain hunters and spring cleaners alike! Participate by selling from the Community Center, your home, or business/organization, or enjoy shopping 'til you drop! Trail maps will be accessible online at www.mansfieldcc.com and in hard copy at the Mansfield Community Center starting April 22nd, 2024.

Earth Day Celebration at Mansfield Community Center: Join us as Mansfield celebrates Earth Day once again! Stay tuned for updates and announcements on earth-friendly activities happening in Mansfield. Mark your calendars for the main event on Saturday, April 27th!
